Hubbin' (the app and hubbin.net) is run by Barhas Bold, an individual based in 1202 Geneva, Switzerland, who is responsible for your personal data (the "controller" under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and the EU GDPR).
Hubbin' helps you enhance interests you love, discover new passions, meet real people, and explore new places. Sometimes the best connections start with saying hello to a stranger.
We collect only what's necessary to connect you with amazing activities. Your data stays yoursβwe don't want it, we don't need it for anything else.
To create your account and help you log in securely. We never share your email with other users or third parties.
Required when you sign up, to confirm you are at least 18. Your date of birth is never shown to other users.
To show you activities near you and how far away they are. Your profile location is stored at city level (rounded to about 1 km), and other users only see your city. We only use your location for activity matchingβnever for tracking or advertising.
When you create an activity, its exact address is visible only to you and to people who have joined it. Everyone else sees the city and an approximate distance range.
Your username, interests, city and optional info (photo, gender) help other users recognize you at activities. You control what you share.
Messages you send in activity chats to coordinate meetups. These are only visible to activity participants. If someone in a chat is reported, our moderators can see a copy of that chat to review the report (see Data Retention).
Device platform (iOS/Android), app version, system version, and memory usage statistics to help us optimize performance and fix technical issues.
Automatic crash logs and error reports to identify and fix app bugs. These reports don't contain your personal messages or profile information.
User reports, blocked accounts, and moderation actions to keep the community safe and enforce our community guidelines.
We use your activity interests and location to make Hubbin better for YOU:
Important: Your data stays within Hubbin. We NEVER sell your information to other businesses or data brokers.
In the app: no cookies and no advertising trackers. The app only keeps your login session securely on your device so you stay signed in.
On this website: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use hubbin.net β only if you accept in the cookie banner. Until you accept, Google's script is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set. Google signals and ad personalization are turned off.
You can change your choice anytime with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, analytics stops and the Google Analytics cookies are deleted.
We use trusted third-party services to provide and improve Hubbin:
For location search and address suggestions. When you search for locations, your search queries are sent to MapBox to provide accurate results.
For error tracking and app performance monitoring. Collects crash logs, device information (platform, version), and performance data to help us fix bugs and improve the app experience.
Used on our website only (not in the app), and only with your consent, to understand how visitors use hubbin.net and improve it. Provided by Google Ireland Limited.
Our backend database and authentication provider. All your profile data, messages, and activities are securely stored and processed through Supabase's infrastructure.
These services have their own privacy policies and only receive the minimum data necessary for their functionality.
Your data is protected with multiple layers of security:
Only you and authorized activity participants can see your activity-related information. You can delete your profile and all associated data at any time.
We keep your data only as long as necessary for the app to function:
When you delete your account, your data is removed from our database immediately. Copies in our encrypted backups disappear within 7 days. The only exception is a safety report that is still under review: the report (including the usernames involved and the chat copy) is kept until it has been reviewed, and the chat copy is deleted 90 days after review. We also keep data where the law requires it.
Under EU data protection law, we process your data based on:
Email, username, date of birth (to confirm you are 18+), and authentication data to provide the service you signed up for.
Location data for activity discovery, error logs for app improvement, performance monitoring to maintain service quality, and safety reports to protect our users.
Optional profile information (photo, gender, website) that you choose to share with other users, and Google Analytics cookies on our website.
You can withdraw consent or object to legitimate interest processing at any time by contacting us, using "Cookie settings" on this website, or deleting your account.
Hubbin' is designed for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to use our service.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from someone under 18, please contact us immediately and we will delete the account and all associated data.
Your data may be processed in different regions depending on the service:
Your profile, activities, messages, and authentication data are stored on Supabase servers located in the European Union.
Error logs and performance data (Sentry), location search queries (MapBox), and website analytics if you accept them (Google Analytics) may be processed in the United States.
US transfers are protected by standard contractual clauses, the EU-US and Swiss-US Data Privacy Frameworks, or adequacy decisions where applicable. No personal profile data is transferred outside the EU.
Depending on your location, you may have additional privacy rights:
Right to access your data, have it corrected or deleted, receive it in a portable format, and object to its processing.
Right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing of your personal data.
Right to know, delete, correct, and opt-out of sale/sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
Similar rights to access, delete, correct, and opt-out under state privacy laws.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@hubbin.net. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority: in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, edoeb.admin.ch); in the EU, the authority in your country; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
